Fractus
Fractus is one of the first success stories of technological entrepreneurship in Catalonia. It was founded in 1999 by Rubén Bonet and Carles Puente. They developed antennas based on fractal geometry, which allowed antennas to be integrated into the casings of the devices instead of having external antennas and at the same time be multiband and very efficient. Thanks to the antenna technology created by Fractus in Barcelona, mobile phones no longer have external antennas. Fractus has built up a patent portfolio with more than 40 inventions protected through more than 120 patents and patent applications in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
This technology continues to be relevant today, 25 years after its creation, in sectors beyond mobile phones, such as connecting everyday objects to the internet, and ‘batch’ devices.
It has accumulated numerous international awards and recognitions thanks to its contribution to the Deep Tech ecosystem. They are proud to be an example of creating disruptive technologies in the Deep Tech sector and a source of inspiration for the management and monetization of patents.
