The second edition of the event, held at Mercantic, strengthens the connection between university talent and the city’s business community

The second edition of the event, held at Mercantic, further strengthens the connection between young talent and the business community, once again turning Sant Cugat into a meeting point for both through the BIVA Talent Day.

Organised by Sant Cugat del Vallès City Council, Sant Cugat Empresarial and the Barcelona Innovation Valley Alliance, the event brought together more than 600 young people and 30 companies. The initiative connects university students and recent graduates with leading companies, introducing them to the professional opportunities offered by the city’s business ecosystem.

The event featured companies from a wide range of sectors, including technology, healthcare, industry, food, finance and professional services.

Participating companies included AB-BIOTICS, AGAP2, Banc Sabadell, Between Technology, Bigantec Consultoria, Boehringer Ingelheim, Cambra de Comerç de Terrassa, DXC Technology, Eurofragance, Europastry, Ferrer, Figueras Seating, Fractus, GFT, Grifols, HP, Innova Experts, Innovamat, Marlex, MC MUTUAL, OCA Global, Palex, Ricoh, Sage, STAEDTLER, Talenom, Uriach, UVE Solutions and Sant Cugat City Council.

BIVA Talent Day is part of the initiatives promoted within the framework of BIVA, an alliance that brings together public administrations, companies, universities and knowledge centres to strengthen Sant Cugat’s innovation and talent ecosystem. The event helps bring new generations closer to local businesses while raising awareness of the skills and professional profiles currently in demand in the labour market.

A direct connection between young talent and businesses

One of the key highlights of the event was the opportunity to connect directly with professionals from participating companies, learn about their projects and discover the profiles they are looking to recruit. This meeting space allowed young people to present their CVs, explore opportunities to enter the job market and start building their professional networks.

The participation of companies from different sectors highlights the wide range of opportunities offered by Sant Cugat’s business ecosystem and its surrounding area, as well as the importance of creating spaces that foster connections between organisations’ needs and the expectations of emerging talent.

Workshops to prepare for the professional world

The event also featured practical sessions designed to strengthen participants’ skills and provide them with the tools to approach recruitment processes with greater confidence.

Nestlé delivered the workshop Beyond the CV: How to Take Your First Steps in a Multinational Company, focusing on the key transferable skills most valued in junior candidates, such as communication, adaptability, teamwork and the ability to learn, as well as how to demonstrate these skills without prior professional experience.

Boehringer Ingelheim led the workshop Turn Your Potential into a Career Opportunity, aimed at showcasing professional development opportunities within the company and providing participants with the tools and guidance they need to take their first steps into the world of work.

For its part, Sant Cugat City Council presented the session Build Your Career, Shape Your City: Discover Career Opportunities at Sant Cugat City Council, designed to showcase the professional development opportunities available within local government.

One of the event’s highlights was the Hackroom, a shipping container transformed into an escape room where participants had to solve practical challenges related to areas such as data, software and cybersecurity, while also putting their professional skills to the test. This experience allowed young people to tackle scenarios requiring teamwork, communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills in an engaging, interactive format closely connected to the world of work.

These activities complemented the networking space with companies and reinforced the event’s practical approach, ensuring that young people not only learned about the opportunities available but also gained further tools and resources to make the most of them.

Support from universities and educational institutions

The initiative is supported by universities and educational institutions that help bring the event closer to the university community and encourage the participation of students and recent graduates.

The participating institutions include the University of Barcelona, the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Esade, La Salle BCN, the International University of Catalonia, the University of Girona, UManresa – Fundació Universitària del Bages, the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia, Gimbernat Estudio Jurídico, Sant Cugat Escola Superior de Negocis and TecnoCampus.

The involvement of these institutions is essential to strengthening ties between academia and the business world, facilitating the transition from education to employment and raising awareness of the professional opportunities available in the local area.

Support from organisations and businesses

BIVA Talent Day also received support from Mobile World Capital Barcelona, Estrella Damm, Europastry, the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) and the Barcelona Provincial Council, all of which helped make this second edition possible.

Sant Cugat: an ecosystem of opportunities for talent

With this second edition, BIVA Talent Day further consolidates its commitment to creating meeting spaces between businesses and young talent, in line with its goal of strengthening the competitiveness of the local area and fostering connections between education, innovation and employment.

The event is part of the activities promoted by BIVA – Barcelona Innovation Valley Alliance, which works to strengthen collaboration among the stakeholders within Sant Cugat’s business and knowledge ecosystem.

BIVA Talent Day thus reaffirms its commitment to making Sant Cugat a city of opportunities for new generations, where young talent can discover projects, build professional connections and find pathways to launch and develop their careers.
